Netherlands - NRC Handelsblad is growing again
Thanks to its revised editorial approach and its new compact format, NRC Handelsblad – the Dutch evening quality paper - is growing again.
Compared with the same quarter last year, the paid circulation of NRC Handelsblad increased by 0.2% to an average of 189,450 newspapers a day.
NRC switched to the compact format in March of this year, excelled in its coverage of Libya and the euro crisis and recently included a cultural supplement that appears every day from Wednesday through Saturday.
nrc.next is also growing; this quarter, circulation increased by 2% to 71,000 paid copies. Under the management of the 29-year-old philosopher Rob Wijnberg, nrc.next has become even more opinionated. It attracts many new readers who have never subscribed to a newspaper before.

DeLUXE
Last September, NRC Media launched the high-end, glossy magazine DeLuxe.
This glossy appears as an extra luxury and lifestyle supplement for NRC Weekend.
The formula of DeLuxe will pay particular attention to a certain theme such as fashion, living or the festive season.

LUX AND DELUXE – NETHERLANDS
On 12 March 2011, NRC Weekend launched a weekly special supplement entitled Lux. This lifestyle supplement focuses on everything that makes life even more enjoyable: fashion, beauty, lifestyle, travel, gadgets, living & design, cars, food & drink, etc.
Presenting personal stories and fascinating interviews, Lux sets out to inspire readers every week. All articles are presented in a refreshing style with quality journalism, accompanied by an attractive and clear design that draws readers into the magazine. In addition to the design, powerful photography also plays an important role – and the photographic work looks great thanks to the unusual format and the excellent paper quality.
Lux is distributed with the Saturday edition of NRC Handelsblad, reaching approx. 800’000 readers.

From 10th September onwards, NRC Media will be publishing the high-end, glossy magazine DeLuxe. This glossy appears alongside Lux as an extra luxury and lifestyle supplement for NRC Weekend. The formula of DeLuxe follows the main features of Lux. However, DeLuxe will always be in the form of a special, paying particular attention to certain themes such as fashion, living or the festive season.
Dates of issue for DeLuxe in 2011:

Breaking News at NRC Media – Netherlands
Since March 7th, the Dutch prestigious quality NRC Handelsblad has changed its format from broadsheet to tabloid.
The weekend edition gets also a totally new face. The Saturday edition of NRC Handelsblad, which is now called NRC Weekend, is now published in four sections:
Section 1: News
Section 2: Economy (expanded)
Section 3: LUX (brand-new!)
Section 4: Science
LUX is a totally new section dedicated to all that has to do with Luxury. Editorial content: Fashion, Watches, Jewellery, Travel, Cars, Interior & Design, etc. Lux is reaching approximatively 800’000 readers.
Furthermore, NRC Media will launch this fall a new glossy magazine named Deluxe, which will come out 3 times in 2011 and plans 6-8 issues in 2012 (all themed issues), and goes beyond the weekly LUX sections.
